These three wheeled autorichshaws are fondly called as the yellow mercedes in this part of the world. They are a public transport vehicle and supposed to be plying by the meter. (yes you got it, “supposed”). Negotiating with these auto drivers is an art and one will get accustomed after about 4-5 close encounters.
Bajaj, Ape & TVS are the major autorichshaw makers in India.

Looks like “autos” are coming up in the world since I was there in 92-93… but sounds like the “art” of bartering has not changed. thanks for the memories!
