Central Station

The Suburban Railway station & the attached booking office is not the common sight in many pictures that talk about Central Station.

But this building, which was constructed after the Moore Market Complex, the haven for any second hand / used articles, got gutted in fire is housing the officials of Southern Railway, mainly the reservation offices for the train tickets and the ground floor the Suburban Electric Train station for lines running towards Ennore, Avadi.

  1. Any old timer would miss Moore Market though the sub-urban station complex could not have been located elsewhere.

Moore Market was the place to head to, for buying anything used, old and rare. I have gone there with my uncle to buy old gramophone records and with my friend to buy fishes for his small aquarium.

  2. hey, nice work. I miss madras ( or should i say chennai !). I liked the new focus on central station that was never used as part of – you know “central station” photos. Reminds me of college days, catching 7:40AM train to Avadi :-) . BTW, I add your blog as link to mine (http://laks-frames.blogspot.com/)

    Ram : Thanks Uvaraj
