Ezhumalai, is a peanut / groundnut vendor in front of Vadapalani Murugan Temple. When he saw the picture about to be taken, he wore the dark glasses. He also said this is because he likes both Late MGR & the current CM wearing these kind of glasses.

I don’t know who MGR or CM are/were, but Ezhumalai sure is wearing some cool shades.

  Just have a Wiki on M G Ramachandran. He was the first actor to rule a state and till today remains a big phenomena in this part of the world. He was an actor for 30 odd years and then started a political party and won an election with thumping majority in just about three years. When he took serious ill whole of Tamilnadu (I am not joking, whole of Tamilnadu State in India) was praying for his speedy recovery. MGR is an enigma.
  
  CM – is the current Chief Minister of Tamilnadu a young man aged 85 years.
  
  Both of them are known for wearing dark glasses (may be due to eye ailment) while making public appearances (night or day).
