Local Tabloids

Last decade the city saw an interesting concept called "The Neighbourhood Tabloids or Weeklies", they are distributed free to all households & commercial establishments on the weekend (mostly). They survive on the location specific advertisements to run their show.

Its become a ritual to many to go grab a copy first thing in the morning on the delivery day to hunt for Rentals in that area.

Some of the popular ones are from Mylapore, Annanagar, Adyar or from one publication across popular areas. Advertisers seem to like them because of a geography targeted audience. Seeing there popularity even the large media houses have a specific issue on the weekend which comes as a supplementary to their main newspaper.
