Street Names, #3

Thalayari Street is another street with an unique name. Which also means the “Head” of the Village Panchayat or the Grama Mukkiya Person.

This street was found in Royapettah.

    I have seen the persons during my schooling days in our village, the person “Thalayari” is responsible for announcing the news from government to the village peoples. He will carry a small “Murasu” with him.

    But now I cant able to see those peoples in villages…

    Thalayari- is not the head of the village/messenger. He is the Guard for the village; kind of a chief security officer :-)
