Ezhumalai, is a peanut / groundnut vendor in front of Vadapalani Murugan Temple. When he saw the picture about to be taken, he wore the dark glasses. He also said this is because he likes both Late MGR & the current CM wearing these kind of glasses.

Don’t know the girls name. She was very happy to see many photographers at one go and smiling at us, while returning from an errand (for her mom, i guess). I clicked her picture and she ran of, when her mom called before i could speak to her.

This person (Ezhumalai) has been running his cycle rickshaw for about 15 years and was resting in front of the Ripon Building. Didn’t offer much info, but when requested for a photo to be taken, accepted immediately.
Loved his pose … didn’t change his pose when i clicked him too.

… this gentleman agreed to be clicked, while i was waiting in front of the Gangadeeswarar Koil @ Purasawalkam, when he was waiting with his friend in a bike. When i finished clicking him and showed him his picture, his friend finished his mobile conversation and immediately left the place in their motorbike.

Eshak, the security guard cum gardener cum office assistant of an office complex at Srirangam Avenue.
He wanted me to click the pictures of his small compound wall garden more than him being clicked. That’s the happiness a gardener will have.

The grandfather was seen very happy seeing his grandsons photographed. And was also seen later near the Egmore Museum playing with them and even running a race with the youngest. (Though the youngest one amused his granddad by losing the race)

C K Arasu aka C Koodalarasu, the Driver of a Perishable Goods carrier. He was chatting with me about advantages and disadvantages of using Digital Vs Film Cameras and why i’m clicking pictures of strange things/ strangers and not greenery etc. Quite an interested person, he was.

A florist at Vadapalani, or she’s rather a flower vendor, garland maker and holder of many such skills when it comes to Flowers.

Suresh, was one from the gang of brats who acted as our guides to the Tirisulam Hills, Chennai. They showed us the way to a small hillock, to a diving pond where they go swimming, an adventure to bring down an empty nest from a tall tree and more.

An young child in front of the vegetable shop near the Mylapore tank (Chitrakulam). He was playing next to the shop run by his parents on a Sunday morning and gladly posing for the Cameras, like a seasoned celebrity.

Ezhumalai studies at Triplicane, and was helping his folks on a sunday at the Marina Beach by selling the Tender Coconuts. He readily agreed to pose for a snap. Was happy to hear he was studying and sunday’s he was just helping the ends meet at home.

Murugesan, the Flower vendor / Florist at the Tirisulanathar and Tiripurasundari Temple at the Tirisulam Hills opposite the Airports.
He also doubles up as a watchman to this temple and takes his job very seriously, warns all the shutterbugs about the No-Photo policy at the Sanctum Sanctorum.

Hari, is a parking attendant at Doveton, Near Vepery. He’s been working there for a few years now.

Preparing to feature the commoners of Chennai as a series probably once a week in this DPC.
First of the series is Mukesh, the Hand Mehandi Artiste. He could be seen near Thana Street / Blackers street and he draws various mehandi patterns in the ladies / girls hands for occasions.
