Chennai Pride 2009
… Chennai had the 1st march my the Lesbians, Gay, Bisexuals & Transgenders (Shortly LGBT) yesterday at the Marina. The march started at the Labour Statue at 4pm till the Gandhi Statue.

Commoner, Week #5
Ezhumalai studies at Triplicane, and was helping his folks on a sunday at the Marina Beach by selling the Tender Coconuts. He readily agreed to pose for a snap. Was happy to hear he was studying and sunday’s he was just helping the ends meet at home.

Yes 4 years ago same day, same time Chennai and the coastal TamilNadu was under siege by the mother nature. Tsunami hit the coasts and we lost many lives. Hope the relief promised to many would have reached by now, and many would have gone about their work and their livelihood.

Vivekananda House aka Ice House
The 1842 Built structure for an Ice factory is now called the Vivekananda Illam (or Vivekananda House) from 1963. This is the place where Swami Vivekananda stayed for a week in 1897, when he was in Chennai.

Chennai’s symbol
“The Triumph of Labour” Statue is one of the symbolic structures of the city of Chennai, apart from the Kapaleeswarar temple, Marina Beach, Santhome Cathedral etc.
