Nature, Week 3

The Savanna Baboon aka Olive Baboon, is a native of Equatorial Africa. Called Papio Anubis or Anubis Baboon. Unlike the other Baboons it doesn’t have a flat face, but more like a Dog’s muzzle. Have various colours on it from varied distance and takes the name Anubis from the Egyptian God for Dogs.

Colour coded

Every faith insists on a specific colour to their devotees. The usual colour worn by the devotees of Hinduism in south India is “Kaavi” (light terracotta shade), but many faiths insist on White, some specify shades of off-white and a few red (like here). Many Christians wear white for their Sunday prayers.

Harmony

In a few cases “What’s preached is practised” is prevelant …. Vandalur Zoo is one such example, where they don’t allow vehicles with emission and only battery operated buggies , electric vans & bicycles are allowed, apart from walking.
Could many such public places start following such procedures, and not just seeing them as profitable enterprise!!

Birds Menu

The Arignar Anna Zoological Park in Vandalur is a modern zoo in Chennai, with lion safari, battery operated vehicles to see around, white tiger enclosure etc.
They’ve also replicated the Kodiakkarai (Point Calimere) bird sanctuary situation inside the zoo. Pont calimere is the southern most tip of Nagapattinam District in Tamil Nadu.

No Guests

One more, the state government doesn’t allow guests to visit vandalur staff quarters i presume ……
That’s what the board announces. Hm mm poor guys have their relatives in these lions and monkeys probably.

A Family Portrait

The Arignar Anna Zoological Park in Vandalur is fairly well maintained zoo in the city outskirts, the zoo got moved from the erstwhile location behind the Central Railway station some years back.  They do captive breeding and have a large variety of species in the zoo.
